TELL NO ONE

Book: Author Harlan Coben Publisher Dell/Random House
For Dr. David Beck, the loss was shattering. Every day for the past eight years he has relived the horror of what happened. The night his wife was taken. The last night he saw her alive. Everyone tells him it’s time to move on but for David Beck, there can be no closure. Suddenly a message appears on his computer, a phrase only he and his dead wife know. Beck is taunted with the impossible—that somewhere, somehow, Elizabeth is alive. Warned “tell no one” he doesn’t. Instead plunging headlong into a search for the shadowy figure whose messages hold out a desperate hope. He heads straight into the heart of a dark and deadly secret—and someone intends to stop him before he gets there.

Film: France 2006 131 min Rated MA 15+ (Subtitled) Director: Guillaume Canet Cast: François Cluzet; Marie-Josée Croze; André Dussollier; Kristin Scott Thomas

In the film the events take place in France which is significantly different to the book which is set in the US. Coben was so impressed with the French Director’s passion for the story, and his vision and his understanding that the novel was a love story first, and a thriller second, he bypassed the Hollywood producers.

Did you think that moving the story to France worked? Who sent the bunch of flowers in the film? Were you surprised that the ending of the film differed to the book?
